YU SORA

Concept

I create works using white fabric and black thread, featuring flat embroidery pieces and three-dimensional installations. I realized the importance of ordinary daily life when I painted the inside of my beloved room. Everyday routines, seemingly taken for granted, can easily be disrupted by even the little things. Disasters, accidents, the COVID-19 pandemic, war, anxiety, and fear are always present deep within the heart. What I can do for tragic events continuing worldwide, even in my surroundings? It may create and share artworks continually that make people living in the present moment aware of the importance of everyday life. I want to share a sense of peace and relief from the similar everyday experiences of others. I want to ease the anxeity of everyone, including my own, as much as possible. With such wishes, I am attempting to depict the common scenes and trivial experiences that could be found in any house. I hope each audience will superimpose their own daily life on these works drawn using lines without colour. I hope it will be a small catalyst for reconsidering the familiar scenes of their rooms.
