Yasuo Nomura is a conceptual artist based in New York, originally from Shimane Prefecture, Japan.

He graduated from Musashino Art University with a major in oil painting in 2004. In 2018, he participated in the Agency for Cultural Affairs' Overseas Study Program for Upcoming Artists and has been active in New York since. In 2021, he was awarded a three-year production support grant from the Vilcek Foundation, leading to the development of project-based artworks.

Inspired by his participation in the 2015 residency program at the Kavli Institute for the Physics and Mathematics of the Universe (IPMU), where he interacted with researchers from various fields, Nomura developed a unique art practice focusing on higher dimensions and proposed "Dimensionism." The work "PION," created in 2020 as its symbol, combines the individualities of self and others, suggesting a new form of global peace in the cosmic era by perceiving a third co-creative identity at the intersection. Simultaneously, recognizing the strong bias toward the up-down direction due to gravity in earthly experiences, he aims to explore space (pure three-dimensional space) as the optimal environment to fully realize its value.

Currently, Yasuo Nomura is actively working on a project to create the world's first "Art Satellite to be Experienced in Space, PION," aiming to gather like-minded individuals from around the world under the project named "PION UNITED." This initiative envisions the collective realization of the dream to send an art satellite into space for a unique artistic experience, marking a historic achievement for humanity.
